History of the Band
“The
Trip Hazard” is born!
This is a Story about a bands journey
through life’s little ups and down on their way to fame and
fortune. |
The beginning of our Rock
Family Tree
The journey Starts way back in the year 2000
in Essex, when the sun disappeared behind the moon and petrol
was far cheaper than it is now.
Some like-minded friends and I found ourselves
drawn together by our mutual love of rock music and a surprising
desire to wear bad clothing. Although Paul and Jo were the only
two allowed to grow their hair long at that time!
As Paul, Terry and I walked the thin line
between law and order whilst holding down our day jobs (Home
safety leaflet distributor mangers, chemical inhabitancies and
vehicle extraction officials). The journey to
develop our musical skills started in earnest, along the way
many people came and went, but the core structure of "The Trip Hazard” stayed true to itself. Defying
those that were too busy Christmas shopping!, having problems
with girlfriends!, "Football training on that night"!!! (no Guts
no glory!) Or was it just the cost of paying for a rehearsal
room! Anyone that has sat in a recording studio on their own
waiting for the rest of the band to turn up will know what I'm
talking about!!!!
Two new members Jo (on Rhythm) and Lol (lead
singer) joined us and the band started to find it's stride. |
The Road
So now the time had come to let our music be
heard by the people of Essex. Lol and Jo had become an integral
part of the line up and it was a sad day for me to say goodbye
to them With Lol's vocal talents setting the level very high
plus Jo's gentle undertones of melodic tunes on rhythm guitar. A
new year had started to some new sounds with Gary Bishop on
rhythm guitar adding the new day’s dew to the morning sunrise.
And Stuart’s more up front and personnel approach to rocking it
to you! 2006 was looking good. |
The Name
We as the band and any other band, come to
think of it, will tell you that the name for their band was not
just a simple task of jotting down a few words and hey presto.
We had spent the last 3 years developing
(arguing!!!) over this subject. With many people contributing to
this thankless task. As you can see from below the names are
endless!!
- • Scoop
- • Accommodation defect
- • DFX
- • The High priest of gambling
(my favorite!!!)
So why, “The Trip Hazard” I hear you say? Well it
all happened as Paul the Drummer, one night at rehearsal,
decided to get himself a drink of water. As he climbed out
from behind his mountainous drum kit, he caught his left trouser
leg in the high-hat and fell arse over tit. Hence the name “The Trip Hazard” |
The icing on the cake
Sadly we had to let Terry, our bassist go in 2006, which left us
with a dilemma, who would we find that could equal Terry’s stage
presence, good looks and axe-manship? However, as a Band, we
were extremely lucky that we found one such individual. We were
fortunate enough that Adam Barrett had not long ago started at
Harlow, and seeing as he could play the Piano,
Harmonica, lead guitar, 12 string guitar, Banjo, a little on the
drums (NEED WE GO ON) Richie thought he’d give him a try on the
Bass. Well needless to say Adam took to it like a fish to water,
and the rest, as they say is History. “God that boy is great; I
don’t know what we did without him”. |
Onwards and Upwards
Since the new line up, we took part in numerous charity
events, gigs in pubs, recorded a live DVD and Audio LP
(available to buy at our gigs) and Won a ‘Battle of the Bands’.
Not bad for half a years work.
Bye Bish, welcome New Stu...
At the end on 2007 Gary Bishop decided to call it a day and the band welcomed BA honours music degree graduate Stuart Mawer in his place. The band have since added new songs to the set and have a number of bookings for 2008.
